Make it cheaper? It's one of the "shower thoughts" I had over the weekend and linked to our theme park experience.

The kids love two things about the theme park we visit (and neither are the rides). They like the fact we always take hotdogs, and that they get to have a slushie.

The slushies cost £6.50, but if you're topping up your slushy cup, it's £2.50. We had three of those cups already at home (now four).

This made me think.. could the same pricing strategy be applied to subscriptions with renewals? The "top-up" being cheaper than the first purchase?

In reality I see a lot of pricing where the "first year is 50% off" then you pay the full price at renewal. What if it was the other way around, if I stay another year my price is 50% less.

Think: Could you use the 50% off renewal but 100% first year as a way to attract and retain more people?
