Listen. I've been building digital products for over a decade now. The most important thing I've discovered is listening to your audience is the most important thing.

One product where there was a choice to call something "adding notes" or "adding logs". We started with "adding logs" because they would be logged as an activity.

It was only when talking to real customers that "writing a log" wasn't as easily understood, and what people were doing was writing a note that would be logged as an activity.

After changing the labelling to "add a note", the usage of the feature skyrocketed.

Think: Do you take the time to listen to what your customers want? Or do you build what you think they want without taking the time to stop and listen?

1/ Trendy and Topical

This is an excellent advert by the WWF, linking something trendy (like the X rebrand of Twitter) to their topic.

2/ Contrast

This is another excellent example of content that converts. Contrast the perception of expensive liquor with "Sure, there's also cheaper, thinner steaks and small cars".
