Leaving party; Us vs Us; Let's be best friends;

👋 Hey there, Mike here.

I hope your weekend has been great. This weekend was packed with kids' parties for me and a leaving party for a friend at the gym.

1 short story that makes you think.

Leaving party. Attending my friend's leaving party at the weekend was great. Many friends and his family were there to wish him the best in the new city he was going to.

Rounds of drinks were bought, farewells were said, and pictures were shared on social media. He'll be missed, but we'll still see each other's stories on Instagram.

Imagine if we hosted an equivalent "leaving party" when someone parts ways with our product, service or newsletter.

Thank you for the time we spent together. I'm not going to try and "win you back" too much, but it's time to move on and let's celebrate everything great that we did together.

We often think people cancelling their subscriptions or unsubscribing from a list is because of us. We've not developed the product enough, or our newsletter has become boring.

In reality, it might be more about them. They're moving roles, changing cities, or having less time now than they did 6 months ago.

Celebrate the time together and wish them well in the future. Host a "leaving party" for people who leave you (and don't get too sad that they are moving on).

Think: Would it make your experience of leaving feel better if you were celebrated on the way out? Would you tell your friends that even though it wasn't right for you, it might be right for them?

👋 Hey there, Mike here. I hope your weekend has been great. I went on a lad's night out and then to a theme park the next day with my family. I wouldn't advise going on the teacup ride while slightly hungover. Enjoy 1 short story, 2 incredible examples, 1 great video. Before we begin...
