I hope your weekend was fab. I'm writing this on a Tuesday because we had a long weekend away for my wife's birthday (without the kids). Bliss.

Details. I've just spent a lovely few days away from home in a spa hotel for my wife's birthday. Almost everything was perfect. The hotel lobby was incredible. The check-in experience was top-notch. The evening meal was exquisite. A unique upgrade because of a birthday. Birthday treats in the room. Fantastic.

The room, however, was freezing. No matter what we did, the AC unit wouldn't heat it. It was a bitterly cold weekend as Storm Darragh had been battering the UK.

Now, I might come across as snobby, but the main thing we cared about was being warm and cosy. All the other bits were great, but our most important thing was warmth.
